Over the last decade there have been a number of new orthodontic straightening devices released onto the market offering improved teeth straightening without some of the sacrifices demanded by conventional braces. Perhaps the most impressive of all these new treatment methods is Invisalign. This is a system that offers patients an almost completely invisible brace minimizing the visual impact that puts so many patients off wearing braces.

Invisalign uses a series of one-millimetre thick plastic retainers to gradually reposition the teeth over the course of the treatment. Each retainer is worn for as period of between two and three weeks before it is replaced by another with a slight adjustment. In all there are about twenty to thirty retainers used in the average treatment meaning that the usual length of treatment is about 18 months. This is six months shorter than the average treatment with traditional fixed metal braces.

The other major advantage of the Invisalign system is that the braces are removable. This makes cleaning the teeth easier and more effective, something that can cause problems with fixed braces. It also means that patients can remove the braces for important social and sporting occasions. As long as the brace is worn for a period of twenty hours a day it will still be equally as effective.

The fact that Invisalign braces are so low impact makes them ideal for patients in their difficult teenage years. The braces are almost impossible to see so younger patients will have no need to feel self-conscious about wearing braces. Having straight teeth is fundamental to having a beautiful smile. For many of us not blessed with naturally straight teeth there is the option of orthodontic teeth straightening. If you have suffered from the negative effects on your self-esteem and happiness from uncomfortable or irregular teeth and jaws, braces can help to turn your hidden smile into a stunning straight grin, using a variety of options.

The need for properly aligned teeth and jaws goes beyond simple aesthetic appeal, providing the individual with an effective bite, chew and fluency of speech, all contributing to your sense of comfort and happiness. Straight teeth also help to prevent physical health problems in the future, maintain healthy gums and improve your facial profile.  If you have been reluctant to undergo treatment due to the anticipated effect on your appearance whilst wearing braces, types of brace exist including invisible, clear and lingual braces to minimise the visual impact on your face, leaving you free to achieve the look you want in the most discrete way possible. Whilst some braces exist that can be removed at regular intervals, others such as lingual braces, can be constructed around the backs of your teeth, keeping them out of sight and mind. The comfort to your mouth can also be maximised with modern fastening methods for arch wires creating minimum irritation to your cheeks and gums.

With recent advancements in the field of orthodontics, traditional methods such as brackets have undergone a change from the older ‘train-tracks’ of the past and can now be implemented smaller and are often clear in appearance, while treatment times have lessened, making the overall experience one that causes minimum interference to your life. For patients who are unhappy with their smile but unwilling to face the pain and discomfort of fixed metal braces, a revolutionary system called Clearstep could be just the solution they have been looking for. Clearstep is an affordable and effective way of straightening teeth that comes with the huge advantage of being almost completely invisible.Invisalign is the other method of straightening misaligned teeth in both children and adults

For adults requiring braces, whatever your orthodontic needs, there exists an option to help achieve the straight smile you’ve always wanted  to project yourself with the confidence you need in both your personal and professional life.Orthodontics braces have ability to enhance the size and shape of your smile, allowing you to shine through and leave behind your insecurities.

Invisalign Braces – The Straightening Power

Invisalign braces are an invisible and genuinely effective alternative orthodontic straightening method to old-fashioned fixed-metal braces. Made from one millimetre thick clear plastic, Invisalign retainers are almost impossible to see unless you are aware the patient is wearing them. For many patients who have always wanted straight teeth but been too afraid or concerned by the ugly wire and bracket metal braces, Invisalign is the straightening answer they have been searching for.

Introduced at the start of the new millennium by Align Technologies, the Invisalign system involves wearing a series of these clear plastic retainers (usually about 20 to 25 in total) for periods of two weeks each. Each retainer has been designed and manufactured using computer-guided technology to make small adjustments in the teeth gradually moving them in to the right position.

The obvious advantage of the Invisalign system is the level of discretion provided but also important to remember is that the retainers are completely removable. This means they can be taken out for big social occasions and crucially for eating. This greatly limits the impact of the braces on your lifestyle meaning for the first time there is a brace that fits around you and not the other way round.

The cost of Invisalign braces will vary depending on the nature of treatment required but will usually be competitive with most other forms of straightening treatments. This is just another reason why dentists are seeing more and more patients opting for the Invisalign system.Invisalign is a flexible and effective way of straightening teeth. The retainers will have the minimum impact on your life and the maximum impact on your smile.

Invisalign braces were not the first clear plastic retainers on the market but they are certainly the first that offer an authentic straightening power. The retainers offer the best of both worlds for patients eager to have the perfect straight toothed smile. If you are considering teeth straightening treatment, speak to  your dentist about Invisalign braces.

Invisalign :Invisible Braces

Made from clear plastic, Invisalign takes all the embarrassment out of having orthodontic treatment – which generally lasts for anything between 6-18 months.Besides the cosmetic benefits, a key advantage of invisible braces is that they are more hygienic than traditional metal “train tracks” which run across the teeth. The Invisalign brace is essentially a tough, clear mould which is worn for around 22 hours each day. It can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. The invisible braces come in a numbered set, designed and fabricated especially to fit over your teeth. The first mould is worn for two weeks, after which it can be thrown away and replaced with the next mould in the series. Over time, the teeth are slowly guided into a new, straighter position, to give you a perfect smile.
Benefits of invisible braces
They are virtually invisible, so no-one can tell you’re wearing them unless they’re up close and looking for them! They are removable, enabling you to clean every part of your mouth and not worry about food trapped around brackets. They are painless to have fitted, since they don’t connect to your teeth – unlike traditional metal braces made up of wires and springs. They don’t irritate your gums, cheeks, and tongue, or cause sores. A computer simulation shows how you teeth will move during treatment and what the end result with look like.
Drawbacks of invisible braces
They can sometimes cost more than traditional braces. They are only suitable for minor tooth irregularities, and are likely to be ineffective against moderately or severely crooked teeth. They can cause a slight lisp, although this affects everyone differently.Sometimes traditional braces are required after Invisalign treatment to correct stubborn problems. They take six weeks to be designed, fabricated, and shipped from the Invisalign factory and you may need more aligners after the original set.
Invisible braces can be used to effectively treat all kinds of crooked teeth problems, such as overbites, underbites, crowding, crossbites and gaps between teeth. However there are some situations in which this form of cosmetic dentistry may not be suitable. Your dentist or orthodontist can advise you, but generally speaking, if a lot of movement or tooth extraction is needed Invisalign will probably not be your best option. In this case it’s more appropriate to have traditional metal or ceramic braces fitted, that enable close monitoring and adjusting. After an initial consultation, your orthodontist will take a mould of your teeth, as well as x-rays and photographs from different angles. These are used to produce your new Invisalign braces. After about six weeks, the braces will arrive at your orthodontist’s surgery, along with a 3D simulation that shows the expected movement of your teeth over time. You’ll also be given instructions on how to wear and maintain your braces, which you must follow closely for the best chance of success.

Cosmetic Dentistry : Beautiful Smiles

Cosmetic dentistry is all about improving the aesthetics of your smile. Many people don’t feel confident about smiling in photographs, and feel wary of showing their teeth in social interactions because they’re discoloured, crooked, or have unsightly gaps. Fortunately there is a safe and easy solution available through your dentist – known as the ‘smile makeover.’A smile makeover – another term for cosmetic dentistry – involves one or more of a range of dental procedures, such as teeth whitening, veneers, crowns, white fillings, orthodontics, gum reshaping, and dental bridges. In fact, many cosmetic dentists also offer facial rejuvenation such as Botox. Together, these treatments can transform the shape of your smile, bringing huge psychological and relationship benefits.CEREC is a hi-tech alternative to dental putty (which is used to make impressions of your teeth). A sophisticated camera sends a 3D image to an onsite milling machine, which produces a new crown or veneer from a ceramic block. CEREC is fast and eliminates the need for dental moulds and temporary fittings.Invisalign braces are clear plastic braces used to straighten teeth. This revolutionary alignment system is moulded for an exact fit, and worn for at least 22 hours a day, for 6-18 months.Lumineers are ultra-thin veneers which cover gaps between teeth and improve the appearance of worn or discoloured teeth.Veneers are a popular choice to transform crooked, stained, and damaged teeth into perfect pearly whites. It involves cementing a wafer thin shell (made from porcelain, ceramic or a composite bonding agent) over the top of the tooth.
